Movie Of The Week - Unstoppable

This movie came out last week (November 12, 2010) with other popular movies like Skyline and this week Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows. I was trying to watch the Skyline but somehow its reviews and ratings are quite low. On the other hand, Unstoppable seems to have a pretty high ratings. Heard that the movie story has a similar genre with 'Speed' (1994) by Keanu Reeves.  And since it has Denzel Washington in it, I gave it a try.

The movie is about a runaway train carrying a cargo of toxic chemicals. Pits an engineer and his conductor in a race against time. They're chasing the runaway train in a separate locomotive and need to bring it under control before it derails on a curve and causes a toxic spill that will decimate a town.

The movie is actually pretty good and yes, it does has similar type of adrenaline rush and thrill like 'Speed'. And better, it is based on true story. However, there are a few difference between the movie and the actual incident. The real story takes place in Ohio, not Pennsylvania, and the train number was 8888, not 777. The train speed was claimed never exceeded 47 miles per hour but it was bought to halt in the similar fashion as shown in the movie .

Quick note, there is another movie starring Denzel Washington (and John Travolta) with train, Pelham 123.
